Ranked vs Letterboxd.
Letterboxd is a diary. Ranked is a list. On Letterboxd you log films, give stars and write reviews. On Ranked you choose between two films you’ve seen, and your list puts itself in order. Each place becomes a score out of 5.
Plenty of people keep both. Ranked imports your Letterboxd history, so your list doesn’t start from zero.
How they differ
| Feature | Letterboxd | Ranked |
|---|---|---|
| Where a film’s number comes from | You give it a star rating, half a star to 5 | Its place on your list becomes a score out of 5 |
| Putting films in order | Lists you order by hand | Your list orders itself from head-to-heads. Re-rank whenever your mind changes. |
| What it’s built around | A diary of what you watch, with reviews and lists | One ranked list for films and another for shows |
| Friends | Follow people and read their reviews | Follow friends, see their score beside yours and a taste match for each one |
| Public score | An average rating from members’ stars | The Ranked score, the average of people’s list scores, once 10 people have placed a film |
| Where it runs | iPhone, Android and the web | iPhone |
